Ev Nau, Director of Major Gifts Harmony Foundation

Everett Nau is Director of Major Gifts for Harmony Foundation. In this position, he is responsible for developing gifts for the Foundation from donors through programs like the President’s Council, Founders Club and planned giving initiatives. He has been a member of the professional staff of the Barbershop Harmony Society from 1988 to 2004, serving first as a Music Specialist in the area of performance and later as Managing Director of Membership Development. Nau also was a Marketing Specialist in the area of merchandising for the Society before moving into the membership development field in 1994. He has served with Harmony Foundation since 2005. Nau (pronounced "now") is experienced in writing and producing barbershop shows and other productions and has coached choruses and quartets in show performance throughout North America and Europe. A veteran performer who has appeared as a vocalist and drummer with Top-40 bands as well as being a drum and bugle corps judge, Nau is currently a certified Presentation judge in the Society's Contest and Judging program. Nau sang bass with the Awesome Knights of Harmony, a popular show quartet from New England, G. Whillikers, a vaudeville-style quartet and Penny Arcade. While Nau's hobby has been barbershopping since he joined the Society in 1976, his professional career includes teaching in public schools. Originally from Kittery, Maine, he has been a sales and marketing specialist and was owner and president of an office product dealership in the Boston area. Nau holds a bachelor's degree in education from Northeastern University. In his position with the Barbershoppers, he coached performing groups, conducted clinics in barbershop presentations and performances, actively promoted the Society's merchandising operation, Harmony Marketplace, and assisted in increasing the Society's membership. As a member of Harmony Foundation, he has helped increase annual giving to the organization by more than 250 percent. Nau lives in Zion, Ill., with his wife, Mary. Ev can be reached at enau@harmonyfoundation.org or by phone at 800.876.7464, extension 8446.
