John Schneider Professional Bio

John Schneider Director of Events & Staff Counsel

John T. Schneider, Jr., is Director of Events and Staff Counsel for the Barbershop Harmony Society. In this capacity, he plans the two major annual conventions of the international Society, as well as administrative meetings, schools, and other events. The Society's summertime international convention draws more than 10,000 Barbershoppers and guests from around the world for a week of harmony and fun, culminating in the "World Series of Barbershop Harmony" for barbershop quartets and choruses. In negotiating contracts for conventions and meetings, Schneider draws on the professional expertise of 30 years in private practice as an attorney. He also puts this experience to work in his secondary role as Staff Counsel to the 30,000-member Society. A Barbershopper for more than 30 years, Schneider has served in numerous volunteer positions at all levels of the organization. He has served three terms on the Society Board of Directors, and has been a member and chair of its Laws and Regulations Committee, which oversees all legal affairs for the organization. He has also served on the task forces overseeing a change in Society governance, and chaired an executive director search committee. John sang lead for many years with the Houston Tidelanders chorus, which has placed as high as third in the world in international competition.
