Support the collegiate quartet program!
Looking for CBQC quartets!
The Bank of America Collegiate Barbershop Quartet Contest program is in its 16th year and warrants the support of those who best know the thrill of singing in a barbershop quartet -- you, our registered quartet members. Do everything you can to involve a young male singer between the ages of 15 and 25 in the art of quartet singing.
Find one or two young men you know, either in your chapter or in your community, who might be interested in singing in a quartet. Start by having them sing a tag with your quartet. There's nothing better than hearing the ring of a chord to stir one's interest. If the singers seem interested in doing more, offer to help them find the other parts to start a quartet.
Once their quartet is formed, you can help them choose appropriate music and you (or someone qualified) can also offer to coach them. This will give them the encouragement they need to start having fun as a quartet and to enjoy the thrill of ringing a barbershop chord in their own quartet. If you look hard enough, you might even find a young quartet that has already formed and would love to have some assistance.
Obviously, the goal is to get them involved in the Society's collegiate quartet contest. But remember: Encourage, teach, and praise, but don't push.
